Hello! My name is Shelly Gallo, and I am the McAuley Center Coordinator/Teacher at CTTCS. I can not begin to tell you just how blessed I am to be back working in the school where I started originally in 2003. The children have taught me just what Christ meant when He said, “Let the children come to me, for it is to such as these that the kingdom of heaven belongs.” Each day they remind me to love honestly and unconditionally.
I began my teaching career in Somers Point, NJ, as a 6th grade teacher in the public school. From there, I moved to Delaware and taught a variety of grade levels in both public and private schools. I took a hiatus from teaching as I raised my 5 children (3 sons and 2 daughters). When I returned to teaching, I knew that I wanted to be in an environment where I could freely express my faith in Christ as I guided my students both academically and spiritually. The Catholic school setting afforded me that opportunity. I have had the great pleasure of teaching both Pre-K and 6th grade at CTTCS.
My undergraduate degree from Franciscan University in Steubenville, Ohio, is in elementary education. I graduated from Wilmington University in 2013 with a Master’s in Special Education. I am fully certified to teach elementary school in the state of Delaware. I hold a highly qualified certificate to teach all subjects for grades K-8. I have certificates for middle school in English/Language Arts and Social Studies. I also hold a special education certificate and an autism certificate which enables me to teach Pre-K to Grade 12 special needs children.
I’ve heard it said, “Find your passion and you will never work a day in your life.” My job is so much more than a job because it’s what I truly enjoy doing. I don’t work…I live life joyfully with little people who look to me for love and guidance. In return, I get back
so much more!
