Hello, my name is Lisa Bantz; I am the art teacher. From a very young age, I discovered that I am a visual learner, which made it easier to declare my major in college. I have a BA degree from Maryland Institute College of Art. I also attended Parsons School of Design in Paris, France, where I studied advertising. I have fond memories of studying with students from all around the world. In the Paris advertising classes, I got to hear many different languages to communicate with professors while in class.
After graduating from college, I worked as a graphic designer. After some time, I worked as an Art Director at a well-known sales training company.
My husband, Daniel, and I recently moved from New Hampshire to Delaware. His career in bio-technology helped us live in other places including MD, MN, IL, and NH.
When we lived in MN I taught Korean history and culture through art specifically for students who were adopted by American parents. I enjoyed teaching so much that I decided to study art education at Chester College of New England, near where we lived for over 12 years. Post study, I taught students art in grades K-12. I wanted to be an encourager and supportive to my students. I taught that it’s okay to make mistakes and that art requires practice just like playing a sport or an instrument.
My husband and I have two daughters, both of whom graduated from college. Our older daughter, Amie, is a high school art teacher in Pennsylvania. Our younger daughter, Kellie, is a medical case manager in Ohio.
Besides teaching art, I enjoy hiking, running on a treadmill, going to the beach and going out to eat at different restaurants. I also love traveling and experiencing other cultures.
