¡Hola! My name is Ashley Ridler. I am so excited to teach Spanish at Christ the Teacher! The Spanish language and various cultures that speak the language have always been a passion of mine, and I am excited to be sharing my passion at CTTCS this year.
I grew up in Wildwood Crest, New Jersey; and I graduated from the University of Delaware in 2013 (Go Blue Hens!). Upon graduation, I chose to become a Corps Member with Teach for America in Detroit, Michigan. As a Corps Member, I invested my skills and abilities to combat the educational inequities that exist in urban schools. I taught fifth and second grade self-contained classes, working primarily with Latino and Hispanic students and families.
While in Michigan, I earned my Master of Arts in Education from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor (Go Blue!). After completing my Masters and my Corps Member commitment, I followed my calling to be a Spanish teacher, working at All Saints Catholic School in Canton, Michigan.
Once I fulfilled my calling to teach Spanish, I followed another vocation - to move “home” to be closer to my family. I am humbled and honored by this opportunity to realize my calling to teach Spanish and to live closer to my family now as a staff member at CTTCS.
