Honor Societies

The Tri-M Music Honor Society was charted at CTTCS in the Fall of 2016.  For more information about eligibility, please visit the Tri-M Music Honor Society page.

The CTTCS Honor Society was chartered in 2007. Membership is open to grade 7 and 8 students who meet the required standards.  The following standards were revised in the fall of 2022.
 
Eligibility standards for the CTTCS chapter are:

• Student must have been in attendance at CTTCS for at least one full trimester
• Membership is open to students in Grades 7 and 8 beginning in the second trimester
• Scholastic standards:
  • For 7th Graders: Students must have a GPA of 96 or above without rounding at the end of grade 6 and first trimester of Grade 7
  • For 8th Graders: Students must have a GPA of 96 or above with no rounding at the end of grade 7 and 1st trimester of Grade 8
  • For all Students: Students must have a Good (G) or above grade in Conduct and Effort in all subject areas
• Students must demonstrate a significant level of leadership, service, faith, character, and citizenship and participate in an interview. 

• Conduct and effort grades are reviewed as well as GPA
• Students who meet scholastic criteria may be asked to fill out a student activity form that provides information about levels of leadership and service
• Members of the faculty are asked for input regarding their professional reflections on a candidate’s service, character, citizenship, faith, and leadership activities.
• Applications are reviewed by the Administration Team for approval.
• Candidates are notified of the decision.

• All Honor Society students are required to complete 20 hours of service each summer, documented and signed by the supervising adult. 
• Current 6th- or 7th-grade students wishing to apply for the Honor Society in the winter must complete 20 hours of service during the previous summer, documented and signed by the supervising adult. 
• Additional hours of service are required during the school year.
• Current members must complete the service requirement to maintain their status. 

Member Expectations:
All members must maintain a GPA of 96 or above with no rounding throughout tenure in the CTTCS Honor Society. Any member falling below the required GPA is put on probation for a trimester. Failure to improve will lead to dismissal from the Honor Society. Once dismissed, a student cannot be readmitted.  All members are expected to also maintain a high level of Conduct and Effort with the above consequences applying if these levels decline.

After acceptance, candidates are made aware of the various obligations that are a part of membership (attendance at monthly meetings, participation in Honor Society service projects, and at least one individual service project each year). Candidates, in consultation with their parents, may then accept or decline membership. Candidates who accept membership are inducted during a formal ceremony.
